Our journey to The Scarlet Villas began with a scenic two-hour drive from Jaco (4-4.5 hours from San Jose Airport). Upon arrival, we were immediately immersed in the tranquil sounds and wilderness surrounding the retreat. Just steps from our villa, we waded through a pristine rainforest river stream, cooling off in its refreshing waters.
Each morning, the chirping of toucans greeted us as they nested in the same tree outside our villa. Witnessing the magnificent Rainbow Toucan and the Tucan Grande for the first time was magical, seamlessly blending into our family’s breakfast routine in the outdoor kitchen.
The mornings at Scarlet Villas were deeply personal. Adi embraced yoga on the jungle-immersed deck, accessible by a charming bridge over the river stream. For me, this serene space became a place of reflection and prayer. On the first morning, I witnessed a badger hunting a giant toad—an unforgettable reminder of the vibrant ecosystem and connection to nature that Scarlet Villas offers.
